The Professional Choice....

Designed by captains for captains, NightWatch systems have evolved through countless hours of discussions with officers and crew with years of high seas experience.

The focus is always on reliability, fast and unequivocal identification of problems, economy, and intuitive use with little or no training. NightWatch monitoring systems are

contributing to the safety of vessels across the world’s oceans.

About Us

NightWatch Industries was founded in 1999 by Norman Dahl, a self-described “Silicon Valley dropout gone to sea.” Once fully committed to the lure of yachts he travelled a

good part of the world’s oceans in both sail and power before finally settling in Florida to build the type and quality of equipment he has sometimes found lacking on vessels

he has operated. He has held a 1600 Ton Master’s license for many years and is a member of the Society of Nautical and Marine Engineers and the American Society of Naval Engineers.

Sea-Image Corporation is a supplier of state-of-the-art radar, sonar, and vessel monitoring systems to cruise ships, military vessels, and private yachts.

Full Vessel Systems NightWatch Industries has grown steadily since its inception and has provided systems for some of the yacht industry’s quality builders.

Systems

Reliability

All monitoring hardware is industrial PLC* based (not PC), pre-approved by the world’s vessel certification entities, with Mean Time Between Failure numbers

calculated in decades of continuous operation. Everything including touch screen displays runs on 24 volts DC. (*Programmable Logic Controllers).

Ease of Use

NightWatch displays are intuitive, requiring little or no training, and have no complex menu schemes. NightWatch display screens are based on both aircraft

and vessel formats; depending on simplicity, the liberal use of graphics, color and contrast to convey the important alarm or value data quickly and without confusion.

Easy to install

Nearly all connections are simple shielded pair wiring. Comprehensive drawings allow most shipyards to mount, cable, and terminate their own systems without subcontractors. For upgrades or maintenance on-board system programs are accessible from NightWatch offices to anywhere in the world via an internet connection.

Conning Displays

New optional conning displays provide a consolidated picture of pertinent navigation information derived from instruments which are usually in different locations around the pilothouse and with varied lighting and display methods. Now heading, depth, SOG, COG, rudder order and position plus weather data are all visible in one place.

PC Monitors

For large screen requirements NightWatch provides a Lloyd's approved PC loaded with a custom Windows program, usually in 1280x1024 resolution. This signal can be fed to the user's pilothouse display(s) or we can provide monitors in many sizes as well as full sunlight displays for fly bridge or wing stations. Screen displays can often be adapted to user's color and layout preferences. A server option allows viewing access for other on-board PCs.

Touch screens

Intended for machinery, crew, or utility spaces, they are O-ring mounted with NEMA4 faces. Much more than just a laptop display, these Omron touch screens, only 2" deep, contain a powerful processor, very large storage, and the entire graphics program. They operate independently so loss of any display has no effect on others. A video option allows display of up to 4 live camera feeds. A typical installation may have 12 inch touch screens in the crew mess, control room, and captain's quarters plus an 8 inch tanks-only display at the fuel transfer station.
